You’ve probably heard that coloring books are all the rage—for both children and adults! Studies have shown that coloring helps to reduce stress and promote relaxation by calming the amygdala, the part of the brain related to our fear/stress response. Coloring also stimulates the parts of the brain responsible for creativity and logic.
It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Luchi (Luciana Triggiano Villamizar). She lost her fierce and brave battle with cancer and left us on December 18, 2016, a few months shy of her fourth birthday. Her family, friends, doctors, nurses and volunteers will for ever miss her indomitable spirit…
Thank you to Super Doodle for the wonderful donation of Super Doodle pens! The kids are going to love them!
Super Doodle was created Super Doodle out of a mutual love for the Arts. They began making donations to organizations using coloring as a creative outlet during recovery after their son encountered an unexpected illness in 2015 and remained in the hospital for nine days.
“How science is changing the way schools think about art”
“On most days, San Bernardino’s Barton Elementary looks like most other California schools struggling to make ends meet: There are the familiar modular classrooms, concrete quads and windows covered by metal latticework — an unfortunate reality for children living in high-poverty communities across the nation.
Just My Height Art Shows® brings fine art to young children’s eye level by displaying professional quality fine art at 36 inches high. Talking Off the Wall Magazine has been documenting the South Florida street-art scene for the past two years. These two organizations have joined forces to produce “Secret Doors,” a fine art show that will proudly feature 15 of South Florida’s best street artists and muralists to benefit ArtCares for Kids.
“As a volunteer, intuitive artist & art therapist, I’m reminded that that one must practice what one believes to be true. Artcares for kids brings art to hospitalized children to help them heal. Because of this, it’s important to create and commit to our personal art process, because we understand the benefits we witness weekly.”
Halloween can be a magical, spooky, and amazingly fun holiday, and we are so thrilled to be able to share it with the children in the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Units of the Holtz Children’s Hospital.
We had spooky Halloween fun making goodies bags for patients and getting all the little hands to create fun bats out of toilet paper rolls!! Not to mention a fun Halloween party where we created our Halloween masks with the children!!
